Two retired middle school teachers will offer technology classes through the YMCA of Greater New Orleans, funded by one of five AARP Community Challenge grants awarded in Louisiana this year.

In Tallulah, in the northeast corner of the state, the nonprofit Education Today Group will also teach tech, deploying a mobile classroom for classes aimed at older adults.

Other AARP Community Challenge grants in the state focus on making communities more age-friendly by helping upgrade bus shelters, improving accessibility at a botanical garden and building a model cottage for older adults.
