The Illinois state budget situation is a mess. That’s why AARP is fighting for a commonsense solution to fix our budget crisis. AARP believes the current plan to switch to a graduated income tax is a step in the right direction.

AARP held a town hall forum on Tuesday, November 5th in Oak Park to discuss the proposed graduated income tax for Illinois.

HERE is the Chicago Sun Times article on the event.

The event was an open dialogue on the pros and cons of a proposed graduated income tax.

The topic was debated during a panel discussion with Adam Schuster of the Illinois Policy Institute and Greg Baise of the Coalition for Jobs, Growth & Prosperity arguing against the ballot measure. Bob Gallo of AARP Illinois and Ralph Martire of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, meanwhile, advocated for its passage.
