Let’s Celebrate Lifelong Learning and Educators!

Chances are you know a teacher whose leadership, passion and commitment to education has made a positive and permanent impact in your community or even your life. AARP Idaho is honoring those who choose to be role models and motivate us while serving our communities for the greater good.

The road to AARP actually begins with teachers. Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, a retired high school principal, founded AARP in 1958. AARP evolved from the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA), which Dr. Andrus had established in 1947 to promote her philosophy of productive aging.

But education isn’t just for the young. In fact, it helps keep us young. You’re also invited to attend an informational session about how to get involved with the Retired Educators Association of Idaho. This is a fun group making a difference in the Gem State.

Or enjoy an informative class on the Six Pillars of Brain Health. Did you know research shows which lifestyle behaviors may have the biggest impact on brain health? This is a session filled with important material you won’t want to miss!

And what better way to celebrate teachers and education than by attending a class and learning something new. For the 6th year, AARP Idaho, in conjunction with the Idaho State University, will offer New Knowledge Adventures. This complimentary continuing education program is designed by the 50+ for the 50+. It offers exceptional learning and social opportunities in a comfortable and non-competitive academic surrounding.

You’re also invited to join us for fun and complimentary virtual movie screenings of classic movies celebrating the joy of learning and the value of teaching, including Emperor's Club, Freedom Writers, Dead Poets Society and Akeelah and the Bee. You’ll have a great time watching these classics!
