Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with AARP in Los Angeles!
Español | AARP in Los Angeles celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with fun events for the whole family. Each year, Hispanic Heritage Month commemorates the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans from across the country from September 15-October 15.
Join us at a traditional Fiestas Patrias, an exciting game of fútbol with LA Galaxy discounted tickets, at CicLAvia’s car-free streets event through the Heart of LA, and other music and theater, activities. Most events are free, but advance registration is encouraged for a select few.

The Fiesta Ranchera is an annual tradition honoring Latino Culture and Heritage, started by MAOF’s founder Dionicio Morales. MAOF’s mission continues to serve the community by addressing the needs of older adults. The “Fiesta” is a social event with food, entertainment, and prizes. Your participation will benefit MAOF’s programs dedicated to helping older adults. Admission: $10 includes food.

The film depicts the untold stories of migrant Mexican farm workers brought into the U.S. from 1942-1964 under the temporary worker program known as the Bracero Program. Learn about a generation of men, now in their 80s and 90s, who felt obligated to come work in the U.S. because the means for survival in México were sparse during the World War II era.

VARIEDADES: Little Central America, 1984 is the eighth installment of the performance series created by Rubén Martínez, which has been presented at various locations in Los Angeles. Directed by Elia Arce, Little Central America, 1984 will seamlessly knit together narrative, music, and movement. The performance will tell stories of nuanced human relationships behind the larger political narratives that lead to making Los Angeles' history – the height of the 1984 civil war in El Salvador and the arrival of hundreds of thousands of refugees.
