Caregivers: You're Not Alone - There Is Help

Posted on 12/05/24

Caregiving may be one of the most important, and challenging, roles you’ll ever take on.

Did you know, one in five Utahns are unpaid caregivers? No matter where you are in your caregiving journey — starting to plan; taking care of a family member in your home, in a facility, or from a distance; or managing end-of-life caregiving responsibilities — having resources at your fingertips will make the process easier.

Pat Thompson, AARP Utah’s Volunteer President, bravely shared her caregiving journey in our most recent Positively 50+ segment with KSL. Watch the story by clicking - HERE.

Family caregivers help with everything from buying groceries to managing medications to bathing and dressing – often putting their finances and jobs at risk. They provide over $600 billion in unpaid labor each year, saving taxpayers billions and keeping loved ones at home and out of costly nursing homes.

AARP is fighting for solutions that will save caregivers time and money—and give them more support.

If you or someone you know are looking for resources on caregiving, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list online. Visit AARP Utah’s Virtual Resource Center for more information.
