Black History Month: Pass it On!

Posted on 02/01/19 by Mary Mazur, Community Engagement

Tonight, when you tell your babies and grandbabies a bedtime story, don’t tell them a fairy tale. Instead, pass on the stories of real heroes.

African-American heroes. From a man who started a movement with a dream to a woman who helped put astronauts into space. And tell the stories of heroes in your own community.

AARP celebrates Black History Month by showcasing the real possibilities of African Americans over 50 who are not only making history, but who show us how to pursue our dreams. We invite you to join us in the celebration – without leaving home.

Through Feb. 28, you can get a discount on AARP (25 percent off for new or renewing members) on the online AARP Driver Safety course.

To learn more about the meaning and history of this holiday, visit The Origins of Black History Month available online at The Association for the Study of African American Life and History.
