Put the cold winter behind you and explore nature in the St. Louis area this spring with two AARP volunteer-led outdoor adventure groups.

Starting Saturday, April 6, members in and around St. Louis will have multiple opportunities to venture into the outdoors through free bimonthly hikes with Trail Trekkers and monthly cycle rides with Boomers and Bikes.

Both groups give members a chance to get active and connect with others, said Sheila Holm, community outreach director for AARP in St. Louis.

“An added bonus is experiencing new locations right here in our community,” she said.

Trail Trekkers will visit Rockwoods Reservation in Wildwood on Saturday, April 13, and Babler State Park, also in Wildwood, on Saturday, May 4. There will be other hikes in May and June.

Each begins at 8 a.m. and averages two to four miles. All hikers will receive a free backpack when they register.

Boomers and Bikes will ride along the Mississippi River Trail at Cliff Cave Park in St. Louis on Saturday, May 11. More rides are planned through early November.

Participants must bring their own bicycles and helmets and will receive a free bike light and drawstring bag when they register.

Register for events by calling 877-926-8300 or visiting aarp.org/stlouis.
