Today, AARP Wyoming State Director Sam Shumway announced the hiring of Jennifer Baier as AARP Wyoming’s Associate State Director for Outreach and Local Advocacy.

“We are thrilled to bring Jenn on board.” Shumay said. “Her experience and skills will be critical as we transition back into in-person events and continue to grow our volunteer teams and community presence.”

Baier is no stranger to the organization, working for AARP for the last 16 years in a variety of roles, including Associate State Director for Communications for AARP’s Illinois State Office, to the West Regional Advisor. She also led AARP’s national 2020 Census Outreach. More recently, Baier served in AARP’s Office of Volunteer Engagement supporting AARP state offices with strategic planning, training, and virtual presentations.

In her new role as the ASD-Outreach and Local Advocacy, Baier will work with community action teams to plan and execute local events, as well as lead AARP Wyoming’s statewide events, teletown halls, and webinars.

“I’m excited to be joining the talented staff and volunteers that make up team AARP Wyoming,” says Baier. “I look forward to partnering with them, elected officials, and community partners to help empower Wyomingites to choose how they live as they age.”
