You will also learn about upcoming offerings and about volunteer opportunities! Festival is 8 AM to Noon and the walk kicks off at 10 AM.

Speakers Bureau Virtual Training

Looking for more ways to get involved? Join us for an upcoming volunteer training! If you are interested in public speaking or have a background in marketing or education, we invite you to an AARP Speakers Bureau Training. Our volunteers give community presentations to address important issues that affect Massachusetts residents. Your experience matters!
This session will be held virtually on Zoom and is ideal for anyone who cannot make it to our in-person training in Worcester on October 17th. Trainings are held twice a year in the fall and the spring.

Fraud Talk Tuesday: Ways to Fight Misinformation

As virtual AI scams increase, we’ll explore how to guard against false information. Detecting misinformation (false or misleading info that spreads unintentionally) and disinformation (info that’s designed to deceive) is becoming increasingly challenging, given the growing sophistication of deepfakes. These faked images or recordings can be highly convincing, thanks to the use of artificial intelligence in creating them. Become well-informed about misinformation scams!

Walk with a Doc is a walking program for everyone interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. You’ll take a few minutes to learn about a current health topic from a healthcare professional, then spend the rest of the hour enjoying a healthy walk and fun conversation. It’s a great way to get out, get active, and enjoy all the benefits that come from walking. Walk your own pace and distance. When the weather is bad we will meet inside the Prudential Shopping Center and on good weather days we will meet at the Boston Common. A reminder with the location will go out the day before.

Life Hacks: AI & Disinformation

But today's AI powered tools and social media have made it easier and faster to create and spread disinformation. In this lecture, we’ll explore how AI is used to create convincing deepfakes and clone voices, making it challenging to distinguish between real and fake content. We’ll also review best practices for evaluating information and explore tech tools that can help identify content created with AI.
