MA Councils on Aging and Economic Security

Outreach Coordinators and other staff at Councils on Aging in Massachusetts frequently work with older adult clients to find economic security resources among the public benefits available, such as SNAP benefits for food, fuel assistance during the heating season, and health insurance savings. Many Councils on Aging operate Senior Centers that host AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program, SHINE counselors, and food distribution programs. AARP Days at the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill are back!
AARP members and up to 5 of their guests can gain free admission to the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, located in Boylston. You can register for more than one day. Please register with us in advance, to make things go more smoothly once on-site. Registration requires an email address for each guest. The entire group of up to six people can meet up at the front desk of the visitor center and mention the code “FUN50” to gain access. Please then stop by the AARP table to officially log your attendance with us and you will receive a small gift (while supplies last).

April Fraud Talk Tuesday: Fraud in Your Mailbox
Tuesday, May 13 at Noon
Join us for an engaging conversation with USPS Inspector General Schrage as we discuss postal scams. There will be an opportunity for Q&A so you can get your questions answered live on the webinar. Danielle Schrage has been a postal inspector with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for 18 years. During this time, she has worked a variety of assignments in both the Los Angeles and Boston Divisions. Currently, Inspector Schrage is assigned to the mail fraud team in Boston which covers the entire state of Massachusetts. Inspector Schrage is also one of the Boston Division’s Public Information Officers which enables her to use her experience working mail fraud cases to speak to members of the public about ways they can combat consumer fraud.
