Advocacy in Action
Kentucky’s 2026 General Assembly is underway in Frankfort. AARP Kentucky grassroots advocacy volunteers are preparing to return to the capital on Thursday, February 19.

Our annual Lobby Day during the Kentucky General Assembly is one more way AARP Kentucky engages lawmakers to support Kentuckians 50-plus and their families.

“Our lobby day is an important opportunity, giving our Chapter members and grassroots volunteers a chance to speak directly with their state lawmakers and administration officials. They need to hear about the issues on the table for Kentuckians 50-plus in the General Assembly,” said Gary Adkins, AARP Kentucky volunteer state president.

Lobby Day brings lawmakers together with AARP Kentucky’s Executive Council leaders, AARP Chapter Members, Community Team members, and grassroots citizen advocates to highlight the needs and support priority issues of Kentuckians 50-plus. Lobby Day is an opportunity to bring together lawmakers and volunteers to discuss AARP Kentucky’s legislative priorities and to share their personal stories related to those priorities.
