Andrus Award Winner Mary Zarybnisky Devoted to Giving

Posted on 01/02/24 by The AARP Bulletin

Outstanding volunteer For someone so devoted to giving, Mary Zarybnisky has no knack for gift wrapping.

“I’m someone gift bags were invented for,” jokes the 73-year-old resident of Burley, in southern Idaho. She is the state’s 2023 AARP Andrus Award for Community Service recipient.

As luck would have it, other volunteers help with wrapping the dozens of packages she gives out during an annual Christmas gift distribution for local children in need. Zarybnisky has led the project for the past 20 years.

It’s one of several community projects involving Zarybnisky and her husband, Jack, 76.
