AUSTIN, Texas -- AARP Texas, the leading organization for older adults, has announced that Andrea Earl of Austin has joined its State-Federal Advocacy Team as an associate state director of advocacy.

“We proudly welcome Andrea Earl to the AARP Texas state office team, and I am confident that her knowledge and experience in and around state government will be an incredible asset to our work on behalf of older Texans,” said AARP Texas Director Tina Tran.

Earl comes to AARP from the Texas Department of State Health Services, where she managed statewide projects on vaccine outreach, as well as legislative response coordination. She has led media campaigns and partnership initiatives at DSHS.

Previously, Earl worked from 2012 to 2016 for Texas Impact, a nonprofit organization based in Austin. Earl holds both a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Appalachian State University in North Carolina.

Earl joins the AARP Texas team as it prepares for the 2023 legislative session. “Texans 50+ are facing some of the most critical challenges in life, including affording retirement, finding quality care in long-term care facilities, access to affordable and reliable utilities, caregiving, remaining independent as they age, and much more,” Tran said. “The experience that Earl brings to the table will ensure AARP Texas is ready to advocate for Texans who are facing these and more challenges.”
