Alzheimer's Awareness Month
September is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month!
The needs of those living with or caring for someone with Alzheimer’s Disease are complex and constantly evolving. In Maine, around 29,000 people 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's who will rely on one or more family members for care.
If you are one of these Mainers dealing with the everyday effects of Alzheimer’s or are a healthcare provider giving care to Alzheimer patients, please consider completing the below survey’s from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services so that they can better support and serve the needs of you and your family.
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Disease Control and Prevention (ME CDC) is updating their Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) state plan and is seeking input from individuals living with ADRD, caregivers of individuals living with ADRD (current or past), and healthcare providers and other key stakeholders to better understand the current landscape of ADRD in the state of Maine. The needs assessment survey will help ME CDC gain insight into current levels of awareness, resources, and services and more generally identify strengths and weaknesses in the existing infrastructure that serves Mainers living with ADRD and their caregivers. We value your input in this process and ask that you please complete a brief, 12 to 20-minute survey so that your voice and experiences can be heard and incorporated into Maine’s state plan and chronic disease prevention efforts. Please click on the survey link that applies to you (you may complete more than one type of survey if appropriate) to complete the anonymous survey:
