Age Friendly Arnold, Missouri

Posted on 12/20/19

Congratulations go out to the City of Arnold for completing their community plan as an official member of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities.

While St. Louis County was the first in the state of Missouri to become part of the Network, Arnold is the first city in the state. They join six states, one territory, and 430 communities nationwide that have made a commitment to be an Age-Friendly community. The process that Arnold and other communities go through is quite extensive spanning 5 years – 2 years to complete their plan and 3 years for implementation. The work in Arnold was spearheaded by a volunteer, Bill Knittig, who serves as the Chair of their Aging and Disabilities Commission. In support of their work, AARP in St. Louis presented the city of Arnold funds to purchase and install activity stations for two of their parks which will be in place by the spring of 2020.

Congrats to the leadership of Arnold for having the foresight and drive to make their community Great for People of All Ages!
