Advocating for Property Tax Relief in Wyoming

When state lawmakers return to Cheyenne next month, they will continue seeking ways to provide tax help for property owners.

Last year, the legislature increased the scope of the state’s Property Tax Refund Program, which resulted in 8,800-plus applicants receiving more than $8 million in refunds.

Proposals that legislators may consider during the 2024 session include limiting how much someone’s property tax rate can increase from one year to the next and allowing those 65 and older to exempt half of their home’s value from taxation.
