AARP WV to co-host February 2019 WV Black History Month Lecture Series Events

AARP West Virginia is joining with the Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs and the West Virginia Department to Arts, Culture and History to host a series of lecture events during the Mountain State's celebration of Black History Month. The 2019 Black History Month Lecture Series events at the West Virginia Culture Center on the West Virginia State Capitol Complex (1900 Kanawha Blvd., E, Charleston, WV) are free and open to the public.

 

Saturday, February 16:
"Black History in the Law," presented by Attorney Frank Walker, founder of Frank Walker Law located in Morgantown and Pittsburgh.
- Light refreshments will be served. No registration is required.
Time: 3:00 PM
Location: Culture Center, Archives Library

 

Saturday, February 23:
"Black History in the Military," presented by Dr. Charles T. Ledbetter, current Archives and History Commissioner, former West Virginia State University professor and former vice chair of the West Virginia Archives and History Commission.
- A reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres will immediately follow. You must be 21 years of age to consume alcohol at this event - valid ID required.
Time: 5:00 PM
Location: Culture Center, Archives Room
