AARP VT Welcomes New Advocacy Director

Posted on 02/07/23 by Laura McDonough

The AARP Vermont State Office is pleased to welcome a new member to their team, Charlie Gliserman, who will serve in the position of Associate State Director for Advocacy and Outreach. As part of AARP Vermont, Gliserman will work on advocacy and outreach initiatives designed to enhance awareness and community relationships, while identifying and engaging volunteers in grassroots advocacy campaigns that support AARP’s policy goals. AARP Vermont strives to develop a presence in communities statewide through strengthening visibility, media presence, volunteer capacity, building community partnerships, delivering social impact programs, events, and activities and outreach to AARP members and their families.

Gliserman has worked in social justice-centered policy, advocacy, and organizing since 2014. Most recently, Gliserman was Deputy Campaign Manager & Organizing Director with Becca Balint for U.S. Congress, where she led one of the largest organizing programs in Vermont history. She previously served as Policy & Prop 5 Campaign Manager at Planned Parenthood Vermont Action Fund, where she championed a landmark ballot measure to explicitly protect reproductive freedom in the Vermont state constitution.

“Charlie’s experience and passion for grassroots organizing will help to further AARP Vermont’s mission to make our state a better place to live and age,” said AARP Vermont State Director Greg Marchildon. “We are excited to welcome her to our talented and dedicated Vermont state staff and our enthusiastic volunteers who make our work possible.”

Gliserman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies from the University of Vermont.

On behalf of our 113,000 members in the state, AARP warmly welcomes Charlie Gliserman to AARP Vermont!
