AARP Rhode Island Pushes Assembly for Lower Drug Prices

Posted on 05/31/20 by George Bridges

Since last fall, AARP Rhode Island has encouraged the state’s General Assembly to pass legislation to lower prescription drug costs.

The push is now on to win approval of bills that would allow drug importation, end pharmacy gag rules that limit information about lower-price options and improve price transparency.

The legislative session typically ends in June. However, the coronavirus epidemic has put legislation on hold. Volunteers will continue to prepare for hearings and send a strong message to lawmakers. Stay up to date at aarp.org/rivolunteers.
