AARP Pennsylvania Invites You to an Important Live Tele-Town Hall: All About Holiday Scams
Harrisburg, PA – It’s the holiday season – a time for togetherness and celebration. For many of us, it’s a season of giving. Unfortunately, the gift-giving process also brings opportunities for scammers to enrich themselves. Our goal isn’t to take the joy out the holiday season or take the fun out of gift-giving, rather, it’s to help you be aware so you can protect yourself and your loved ones.
AARP Pennsylvania invites you to participate in a Tele-Town Hall on holiday scams. Please plan to join us by simply calling 855-286-0295 on Wednesday, November 15, at 2:00 p.m.
Our Tele-Town Hall will be hosted by Mary Bach, Volunteer Chair of the Pennsylvania Consumer Issues Task Force. Our special guests include Sarah Frasch, Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, and Lieutenant Adam Reed, Director of Communications with the Pennsylvania State Police.
Topics to be covered will include recognizing the red flags of holiday scams, understanding the types of deceptions commonly perpetrated during the holidays, and learning about official resources available for assistance and reporting.
"Whether in stores or online, fraud criminals up their game when we increase our shopping during the holiday season. Knowing the warning signs is an important first step. By joining our Tele-Town Hall, you’ll learn how to spot and stop these scams before they steal your holiday joy,” said Mary Bach.
We’ll take your questions throughout the hour. To join our free Tele-Town Hall, dial 855-286-0295 on Wednesday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. or listen to the livestream on https://www.facebook.com/AARPPA.
