AARP NY Statement on Formation of NYC Cabinet for Older New Yorkers

New York City Hall

NEW YORK, N.Y. - AARP New York State Director Beth Finkel released the following statement on the formation of the New York City Cabinet for Older New Yorkers:

“AARP New York applauds Mayor Adams’ creation of the New York City Cabinet for Older New Yorkers. This groundbreaking, multi-agency collaboration brings together the combined expertise of government officials and will break down barriers between agencies to focus on the needs of older adults – the fastest growing age group in the City.

“It is our hope that this new cabinet will increase coordination, enforcement, and consideration so agencies’ rules and regulations will better support New Yorkers as they age. This first-in-the-nation initiative reflects recommendations AARP New York made in its blueprint for the city earlier this year, and we look forward to working with the City and the new cabinet to better serve our rapidly aging population and make New York an even more age-friendly and inclusive city.”
