AARP is committed to supporting healthy, active aging in Minnesota. Community resources, like the new fitness park in St. Paul, help to enhance the livability of our state for people of every age.

As a part of AARP's 60th Anniversary, AARP launched an ambitious effort in 2019 to create 53 fitness parks – one each in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. These AARP Sponsored Outdoor Fitness Parks Organized by FitLot are designed for adaptive use by people with a wide range of abilities and exercise needs.

This enterprise-wide initiative supports a number of AARP priorities:

  • fostering healthy habits and addressing health disparities
  • creating public spaces that can be enjoyed by residents of all ages and
  • showing up in meaningful ways at the local level

Each outdoor fitness park structure is approximately 1,400 square feet in total and complete with safety surfacing and a sun canopy. The structure itself is designed in a circumference to enable circuit training courses and provide a well-rounded workout experience to the user.
