You could be the next AARP Kansas volunteer state president!

AARP Kansas is looking for our next State President – the top volunteer position in Kansas that helps provide high-level strategic advice, oversees the Executive Council and a diverse volunteer corps, and advocates on behalf of people ages 50+.

The state president is central to AARP's efforts and is on the ground representing AARP at public events, with the media, and at the state legislature, all while advancing AARP’s social change mission in Kansas.

We hope you'll consider joining our team by applying for this position by May 26, 2023. You can apply online HERE.

In addition, we have a team of volunteers across Kansas who work to make their communities and our state more age-friendly for all ages. We have a wide-variety of opportunities with something for everyone.

Here are a few examples:

  • members of our AARP Executive Council who guide us in our activities across the state;
  • AARP Smart Driver course volunteer instructors who help Kansas drivers refresh their driving skills and adapt to changes in traffic laws and auto technology
  • Fraud Watch volunteers who educate Kansans about frauds and scams and provide tips and resources on how to avoid them;
  • volunteers who are veterans or members of military families to help guide the Kansas State Office’s outreach and engagement activities with Veterans and Military Families (VMF) communities;
  • IRS-trained AARP Tax-Aide volunteers who help low-to middle income Kansans prepare and file their taxes;
  • members of our Diversity Council who advise us on ensuring that we reach out and have an impact on diverse groups of individuals and groups in our state;
  • advocacy volunteers who monitor legislation that impacts those 50 and older, testify on bills, and connect with legislators across the state so they know where we stand on particular issues such as consumer protection, caregiving, healthcare, financial security, utility access and affordability, nursing home care and more;
  • community volunteers who work in their cities and towns to distribute AARP resources and information at local events
  • office volunteers to help in our Topeka and Wichita offices

We could not accomplish our work without the time, talent and commitment that our volunteers devote to their areas of interest and expertise.  And we have fun too!
