The COVID-19 pandemic has been especially dangerous for residents of long-term care facilities, and now AARP Virginia has a seat at the table when it comes to addressing the crisis.
David DeBiasi, an AARP Virginia associate state director and a registered nurse, is serving on the governor’s COVID-19 Long-Term Care Task Force. The panel is tasked with making recommendations to help the facilities combat the virus, strengthen staffing, do testing and infection control, and keep stakeholders informed about COVID issues.
Deaths in long-term care facilities numbered nearly half of the 3,600 state total by late October, the state Department of Health reports.
