Voters Choice – Santa Clara & San Mateo County | March 2020

Census 2020 – San Jose | March 12th-April 30th
Be a Census Station Ambassador! For the first time ever, the Census has gone online and the City of San Jose is looking for volunteers to explain to Community Center visitors how to use the Centers' census computers to complete their Census questionnaire, as well as raise awareness about the importance of the 2020 Census. Volunteers are asked to commit to one or more shifts of 3.5 hours a week from March 12th through April 30, 2020 (if you need to skip a week, you can still sign up!). Learn more and sign up HERE.

Tax-Aide (SERVICES POSTPONED - due to Coronavirus)
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide will offer free tax preparation support until April 15, with locations throughout California. There are no fees and AARP membership is not required. To learn more and find your nearest Tax-Aide location click HERE.
Drivers Safety Courses (COURSES POSTPONED - due to Coronavirus)
The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically designed for drivers age 50 and older. In many states, drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completing the course. To learn more and find your nearest course click HERE.
LOCAL VOLUNTEERING:
AARP Volunteer Recruitment
AARP is seeking additional volunteers for events and education outreach in San Jose and the Greater Bay Area. Event Team members provide support at community functions, while Education Team members give presentations to small groups on topics such as home repairs to facilitate aging in place, caregiving, and brain health.
