AARP in San Jose is here locally to help you take on 2022 with virtual events, local resources, vaccine information and more.

LOCAL VIRTUAL EVENTS: 
A Caregiving Conversation with Patti Davis – Author of Floating on the Deep End: June 15th
Join AARP California for a free virtual event with Patti Davis, author of Floating on the Deep End: How Caregivers Can See Beyond Alzheimer's and daughter of President Ronald Reagan. Davis will share her journey as a caregiver for a loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease and the road after caregiving. The program will also include resources from the Northern California Alzheimer's Association and comments from AARP California on Paid Family Caregiver Leave. This event will be hosted in English, but Spanish language support will be available. Additionally, resources in both English and Spanish will be shared with attendees. Learn more and register HERE. This virtual event is FREE and open to the public. Registration is required.

San Jose Jazz Celebrates Black Music Appreciation Month – Virtual Concert: June 23rd

Join us and San Jose Jazz (SJZ) as we celebrate Black Music Appreciation Month! Enjoy a selection of favorite performances from Black band leaders that performed with SJZ for 2022 Winter Fest and New Works Fest festivals. Highlights include performances from Harriet Tubman, Marquis Hill, ASTU, Michael 'Tiny' Lindsey, Mike Blankenship, and Cava Menzies. Learn more and register HERE. Senior Safari – Enjoy a Day at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo: June 23rd
Join AARP California for Happy Hollow Park & Zoo’s Senior Safari series and enjoy a day at the zoo. This program is designed to help older adults improve their health, avoid social isolation and enjoy a unique environment that stimulates both mind and body. Senior Safari admission and parking are free for those ages 50-plus that arrive before 10 a.m. PT (the park opens to seniors at 9 a.m. PT), and guests are welcome to stay for the day after gates open to the general public. AARP is committed to ensuring voters have the information they need to cast their ballot. That is why we are sharing how City of San Jose Mayoral Candidates plan to act on three critical issues important to 50-plus voters if elected. The aarp.org/fraudwatchnetwork also offers news, tips, and online learning videos on how to spot and stop common scams.

Caregiving 
AARP supports millions of family caregivers by providing free resources and tools. The website also features six questions loved ones should ask nursing homes during the health crisis, steps for caregivers worried about the crisis, legal tips for caregivers during COVID-19, and much more.
