Fraud and Scam Prevention
AARP’s Fraud Watch Network works to stop fraud and scams and protect individuals, especially as criminals leverage pandemic fears to take advantage of victims. If someone suspects a scam, they should call the toll-free AARP Fraud Watch helpline at 877-908-3360 to report it. Individuals can also visit aarp.org/fraudwatchnetwork for news, tips, and online learning videos on how to spot and stop common scams.

Caregiving
AARP supports millions of family caregivers by providing free resources and tools. VOLUNTEERING:
Join the AARP San Jose Advocacy Team (SJAT) – now more than ever, your voice is critical in the effort to safeguard the programs and services important to people ages 50+ and their families in our community. AARP SJAT volunteers serve as AARP’s local points-of-contact with their respective city councilmembers and advocate on vital issues that matter most to older adults. You do not need special expertise to join the team – AARP will provide formal training to all volunteers and will compensate for approved costs while volunteering.

Volunteers will commit to working approximately one to two hours a week. Until further notice, all activities will be managed virtually, and any in-person activities will align with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local public health agency guidelines and recommendations.

If you are interested in joining the volunteer team, here’s what to do:

  1. Learn more and complete the volunteer application HERE by July 8, 2020.
  2. Upon completion, an AARP staff member will reach out to you in July.
