LOCAL VIRTUAL EVENTS: 

Resources to Thrive in the Digital Age: April 6th at Noon PT
Learn about resources and programs offered by Senior Planet from AARP to help you harness the power of technology! Join us as we hear from Ryan Kawamoto with Senior Planet from AARP and learn about the services and programs they offer. Senior Planet classes, articles, videos, and activities help seniors learn new skills, save money, exercise, make new friends, and so much more. Silicon Valley Water Purification Tour: April 18th at 10 a.m. PT
Join us for a guided tour of the Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center. This private tour will allow a small group of participants to see firsthand the advanced water purification technologies and processes, as well as an opportunity to learn about the importance of reused and purified water and the future of water reuse in Santa Clara County. Prepare to Care with Avenidas – Resources for LGBTQ Caregiving: April 19th at Noon PT
Providing and arranging care for older and disabled loved ones who are LGBTQ presents unique challenges, including ensuring that medical and long-term care services are respectful, affirming, and inclusive. Join us and Avenidas Rainbow Collective as we discuss practical guidance on developing and putting a caregiving plan in place for an LGBTQ loved one or friend, as well as free resources available to you. Let’s Take it Outside with Happy Hollow Park & Zoo: April 26th at Noon PT
When’s the last time you went to a zoo? Public parks and places, like the zoo, are important for building a sense of community and social belonging for people of all ages. Join us for a conversation with Happy Hollow Park & Zoo staff as we learn about their park great outdoor offerings and how you can make the most of a visit. We will also explore the Senior Safari program and other offerings that are catered specifically to older adults. Learn more and register HERE. This virtual event is free and open to the public. (Save the Date) Veterans Card Writing Event: May 4th at 10 a.m.
In honor of Memorial Day, join us as we write cards thanking veterans for their sacrifice and service. This volunteer activity is a hybrid event that will be offered in-person and virtually. 

You can either join us 1) in-person in our AARP San Jose Office from 10 a.m. – Noon PT or 2) participate virtually via Zoom from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. PT. All cards will then be delivered to local veteran serving agencies prior to Memorial Day. Learn more and register HERE. This hybrid event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.

Visit the AARP Fraud Watch Network at aarp.org/fraudwatchnetwork  or call the AARP Fraud Watch Network Helpline at 1-877-908-3360 to report a scam or get help if you’ve fallen victim. The Fraud Watch Network also offers news, tips, and online learning videos on how to spot and stop common scams.

AARP supports millions of family caregivers by providing free resources and tools. View and download the AARP Prepare to Care caregiving guide, offered in English, Spanish and Chinese at aarp.org/caregiving. The website also features six questions loved ones should ask nursing homes during the health crisis, caregiver checklists, legal tips for caregivers, and much more.
