AARP is here to help you take on today – and every day. From sharing practical resources, to holding fun activities and events, AARP is providing opportunities to connect and help build an even stronger Michigan and mid-Michigan area for all ages to live, work and play. We hope you’ll join us!

ONGOING

Third Tuesday of Each Month  -  Disrupt Aging Book Club. The AARP Disrupting Aging Book Club is a friendly, laid-back group allowing you comment or discuss freely, and as little or as often as you are comfortable with. If you’d like to dig into some interesting books, meet new people, stretch your brain a little and engage in interesting conversation, please join us!
Location: Lansing Neighborhood Empowerment Center, 600 W. Maple, Lansing.

June through August  -  AARP Grand Adventures.  Grab your grandkids for some great fun at Sleepy Hollow State Park, just north of Lansing, for a variety of activities from June through August. Get started now and register for summer opportunities to create lifelong memories.

Wednesday, July 10  -  Emergency Preparedness. Disasters don't plan ahead, but you can. AARP Michigan's Emergency Preparedness seminar will help you identify how to plan for emergencies and disasters, what to include in your "Go-Kit", and how to prepare for unforeseen events if you're a caregiver. Be sure to register – seating is limited!

Thursday, July 11  -  AARP On-Tap. Connect with other 50+ folks over a beer (or other beverage). Learn about local craft breweries, network with interesting, purposeful adults and enjoy a night out on the town with AARP on Tap. Guests are responsible for their own drinks and AARP will provide light snacks.

Wednesday, July 17  -  AARP Grand Adventures: Fishing. This week for AARP Grand Adventures, we'll learn how to fish! Bring your grandchildren for fun at Sleepy Hollow State Park and make memories to cherish.

Thursday, July 18  -  CarFit. CarFit is a free program designed to assist older drivers adapt to their vehicles in a way that maximizes their control of the vehicle, as well as offering the most protection in the event of a crash. Trained technicians will lead you through a 12-point checklist with your vehicle, recommending adjustments that could make your vehicle “fit” better and enhance your safety.
Location: Meridian Township Senior Center. 4000 Okemos Road, Okemos. (Next to Chippewa Middle School).

Thursday, July 18  -  Fraud Watch Network. We’re fighting back with the AARP Fraud Watch Network. It provides resources to help you spot and avoid identity theft and fraud so you can protect yourself and your family. Come learn how to get watchdog alerts and stay up to date on con artists’ latest tricks.
