AARP Hosts First-Ever Aging in Place Workshops on Maui

Posted on 08/15/24

Get information about resources and services to help you age successfully on Maui at a free AARP Hawai`i Aging in Place Workshops on Saturday morning, Aug. 24 at the Kaunoa Senior Center, 401 Alakapa Place, in Paia from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

“We know that most people on Maui want to stay in their own home and community as they grow older. But many of us aren’t aware of the information and resources available to help us age in place,” said Keali`i Lopez, AARP Hawai`i state director. “We want to make it easy for people to learn about resources in Maui County and to hear from experts on home modifications, legal issues like advance care planning and estate planning, fall prevention, medication management and even decluttering and downsizing.”

The conference includes a resource fair of local service providers and six workshops (participants can choose up to three). It’s free and you don’t have to be an AARP member nor of AARP age to attend. To learn more and register go to aarp.org/local or the AARP Hawai`i Facebook page and click on the events tab. You can also call 877-926-8300 to sign up.
