AARP Honored Vets at National Bikers Roundup

Posted on 08/01/23

On Friday, August 4, 2023, AARP Tennessee hosted a luncheon event for veterans at the 46th Annual National Bikers Roundup.

AARP's presence at this event is to inform the many veterans participating about our free resources to support veterans and military families, which can be found at aarp.org/veterans.

“AARP is proud to salute our veterans for their service and sacrifice,” said AARP Tennessee State Director Mia McNeil. “The Biker Roundup draws folks from all over the country for fellowship and provides the perfect opportunity to share fraud prevention information.”

One-in-three veterans, active duty military, or their family members received and lost money to at least one military-service-related scam solicitation.

“Veterans and their families are 40% more likely to lose money to scams and fraud than other families.” said Senior Advisor, AARP Veterans & Military Families Initiative, Troy J. Broussard.

To help fight fraud against veterans, AARP has launched the AARP Veterans Fraud Center, a new online education and resource center to help protect veterans, service members and their families against fraud. More veteran information and resources can be found at www.aarp.org/veterans
