AARP Hawai'i Offers Free Webinars

You might not be able to physically attend events, but AARP Hawaiʻi is hosting workshops virtually for you to stay connected! Below is a list of upcoming AARP Hawaiʻi Webinars that you can join for free. Topics include disaster planning, home improvements and brain health.

If you’re interested in a webinar, click on the link for more information and to register. An email confirmation will be sent to you giving you additional details to connect to the Webinar via WebEx Meetings.

How to Connect to WebEx Meetings

Join via phone or tablet

· If you join by smartphone or tablet, you should download the Cisco Webex Meetings app from the Apple, Chrome or Android store.

o Tap Open after the app is installed and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Statement.

o Tap Join Meeting, enter the meeting number—which is in the email invitation—and tap Join. You can also go to the confirmation and click on the meeting link.

o Enter the meeting password—which is also in the email invitation—and tap OK.

o When the Webex Meetings app opens, your video preview lets you see how you'll look to others if you want to use your camera.

Join from Windows or Mac computer

· You can download the Webex Meeting desktop app for Windows at https://www.webex.com/downloads.html/ or go to the Apple or Google store for Mac or Andoid systems.

· Otherwise open your email invite and click Join.

· If this is your first time, Webex automatically downloads the app.

· Click the installer file to install the app.

· Enter your name and email address and click Next.

· If you're asked for a meeting password, enter the meeting password - it's in your email invitation - and click Next.

· Use the default setting from your computer for audio or

· Call in by phone for audio when the meeting starts. A list of the global call-in numbers is available in your meeting invite via email. (If you have slow internet connection, choose this option.)

· By default, your microphone and camera are turned off. The video and microphone buttons are both red.

· To join with your video on, click Start video

· Lastly, click Join Meeting.

Join via web browser

· If you do not want to download anything you can use you web browesr to join a Webex meeting. Most versions of Chrome, Explorer,Edge, Safari and Mozilla are supported.

· Open your email invite, and click Join.

· Webex will connect you to your meeting. Select Join from your browser.

When: Friday, May 15, 2020
Time: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. (HST)

Sign up to join a Telephone Town Hall with U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono. Go online to receive a phone call on Friday, May 15 at 10 a.m. to participate in a virtual Town Hall meeting using your phone. Sen. Hirono will answer questions from participants on how the next coronavirus stimulus package may affect Hawai’i and share information on caregivers and the coronavirus. The event will also be simulcast on the AARP Hawai`i Facebook page.

When: Tuesday, May 19, 2020
Time: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (HST)

Join us with featured speaker Christine Spencer “Spence”, Regional Coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association Aloha Chapter to learn about the latest research in healthy aging!
