AARP Grants Fund Ohio Community Improvements

Posted on 11/30/19 by The AARP Bulletin

Two Ohio municipalities are 2019 AARP Community Challenge grant winners.

The city of Lorain will use the money to cover some of the improvements to Falbo Park. It had already committed to a new play structure at the site, but AARP funds will pay for a 20- by 20-foot shade awning, a large glider swing and an additional shade structure using a trellis for vine plants to climb.

In northwest Ohio, the AARP grant will help the village of Leipsic install a firepit surrounded by five double swings in Bennett Park, along with permanent games, including four concrete cornhole boards and an outdoor checkers/chess board.

The Community Challenge program is part of AARP’s Livable Communities Initiative, to help neighborhoods make immediate infrastructure improvements that benefit all age groups.
