AARP Delaware Applauds Legislators for Making it Easier to Vote in the 2022 Elections

Posted on 07/07/22

Making your voice heard in Delaware’s elections is easier than ever. With the passage of several bills that are on their ways to the Governor for signature, Delawareans have new ways to vote this year, including:

Mail in Voting: Any Delaware voter who wishes to vote by mail will be able to request a mail-in ballot (except for presidential primary elections). [GS1]

Early in-person voting: Early in-person voting is available at least 10 days before Election Day.

Same Day Voter Registration: Voters will be able to register up to and including at the polls on election day.

Automatic Voter Registration: The DE Division of Motor Vehicles will provide automatic voter registration for eligible voters during a license or ID card transaction.

And mark your calendar for in-person voting on Election Day: The state’s primary election is Tuesday, Sept. 13; the general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“AARP thanks the Delaware Legislators who voted to increase voter access as we move into our next elections season,” said Lucretia Young, AARP Delaware State Director. “So many Delawareans age 50 and over have a challenge accessing the polls due to transportation issues, caregiving and more. We encourage all Delawareans to vote on issues that matter to them.”
