AARP Connecticut is very concerned about the health and safety of state residents as we enter the winter months. Many of our members are on moderate, low, or fixed incomes, and they are being hit hard by inflation and the ongoing economic impacts of the pandemic.
The pending 100% rate increase for electric supply, and major increases in the cost of other utilities and deliverable fuels, puts intense pressure on people’s wallets. A growing number of Connecticut residents will have to choose between food, medicine, and staying warm this winter.
AARP Connecticut encourages legislators to increase funding and expand eligibility for energy assistance during the upcoming special session.
