AARP Chicago unveiled a photo mural project celebrating family caregivers across the city.

"Portraits of Care," which went on display in six Chicago neighborhoods Nov. 13, is a multi-neighborhood project in honor of National Family Caregivers Month in November.

There are 1.5 million family caregivers in Illinois who provide daily, loving care to the older adults in our communities. Many might not even consider themselves caregivers, insisting rather that they’re just being good daughters, sons, siblings or neighbors. AARP has resources to help.

To honor these unsung heroes, AARP Chicago worked with neighborhood photographers who live in six neighborhoods around Chicago – Uptown, Lakeview, Chinatown, Little Village, Bronzeville and Beverly – and community partners to photograph 60 caregivers and older adults in their communities.

The murals will be on display in the following locations through the month of November and can be viewed safely outside or from the comfort of your car.
