AARP Celebrando Comunidad Celebration
People are still talking about the AARP celebration in Little Village.
Friday, October 18th, AARP Chicago shut down 26th and Lawndale to dedicate the Celebrando Comunidad mural to the people of the Little Village Community.
The painting by local artist Liz Reyes on the walls of Nuevo Leon restaurant, 3657 W. 26th Street, signified the importance of caring for loved ones and honoring our ancestors. Liz and her team of fellow artists did a magnificent job.
The dedication was filled with hundreds of people from the community, dignitaries, and Chicagoans from all over the city. Univision Chicago hosted live remote of the site of celebration.
There were face painters, craft tables, and free Mexican Chocolate and Sweet Bread. But most importantly AARP staff and volunteers distributed information on caregiving, fraud and upcoming events.
