AARP California Transit Audit Toolkit

Posted on 03/26/24

A self-service guide for assessing a community’s transit accessibility and service quality.

The AARP California Transit Audit Tool Kit has been created for use by individuals, local leaders, community groups, school classrooms, large teams, or small partnerships – in other words, for anyone who is concerned about the safety and accessibility of transportation – to evaluate and develop recommendations for transportation systems, stops, stations, vehicles, and services in their community.

Access and Download the AARP California Transit Audit Tool Kit

Though this Transit Audit Toolkit contains sections describing four (4) different activities, there is no requirement or recommendation to complete all activities to have a successful transit audit. Furthermore, the activities are presented in a recommended chronological order, however you may choose to complete them in a different order, depending on your specific needs. The goal of this toolkit is to provide you with a myriad of options for how to approach your transit audit. You may conduct as many or as few activities as you like, on a timeline that is most amenable to your community’s specific needs.
