Hip Hop: Health, Wellness & Culture
Don't miss our nostalgic and enlightening 3-part series on the impact of Hip Hop on the health and wellness of people 50-plus and their families. Using music, media clips, and more, Dr. Jaleel K. Abdul-Adil will lead us through an interactive discussion of the historical, cultural, and wellness impacts of Hip Hop in mainstream America.
Part 1 - The History and Five Elements of Hip Hop
February 15, 5:30-6:30 pm
We’ll explore the genesis of Hip Hop including 5 of the foundational elements that bring the culture to life.
Part 2 - Engaging Hip Hop Impacts our Physical Health and Wellness
February 22, 5:30-6:30 pm
We’ll learn about long-term health and wellness benefits through participation in various elements of Hip Hop.
Part 3 - Hip Hop’s Effect on our Emotional, Psychological, and Social Health

We’ll experience the holistic value that Hip Hop brings to our civic and social participation.
The Art of Storytelling

Join us for a leisurely and inspiring outing at Yerba Buena Gardens, located in the cultural heart of San Francisco. The visit will include a visit to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, featuring a waterfall and glass panels that highlight Dr. King’s enduring words, poems, and images from the civil rights movement. Wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers are welcome. This in-person event is free and open to the public. Space is limited.
