AARP Arizona Clarifies It Does Not Endorse Candidates, or Make Contributions to Political Campaigns or Candidates

PHOENIXAARP Arizona State Director Dana Kennedy released the following statement today in response to Advancing Arizona’s citation of AARP in political advertisements targeting Senator Martha McSally. Advancing Arizona also goes by Honest Arizona, according to news reports. Said Kennedy:

“AARP did not authorize or participate in the production of the advertisement targeting Senator Martha McSally. We encourage Arizonans and all Americans to ask questions so they know where the candidates stand on important issues such as prescription drug prices, Medicare, Social Security and family caregiving.

“We have a proud history of non-partisan voter engagement, providing voters with information on where the candidates stand on issues important to Arizonans, so they can make their own decisions in 2020. AARP continues monitoring the misuse of its name or logo in any political advertising. AARP does not endorse candidates or make contributions to political campaigns or candidates.”
