Spring sunshine is finally starting to shine through, and our short winter days are gradually becoming longer and brighter. We're ushering in a brand-new season, and for many that means thinking about seeds, weeds, vegetables, and more! That's why AARP Alaska and the Alaska Cooperative Extension Service are bringing you a five-part virtual series covering top gardening topics for all audiences from beginners to experienced green-thumbs. Join AARP Alaska and Glenna Gannon from the Cooperative Extension Service for a live demonstration of seed planting and the basic materials you'll need to start your own seeds. Glenna will share information on timing and light needs as well as best practices for growing and transplanting healthy plant starts for your garden. Friday, April 28, from 10-11AM: Smart Solutions for Reducing Gardening Aches and Pains
Join AARP Alaska and Art Nash from the Cooperative Extension Service to learn about ways to make gardening easier as we age. Art will share a variety of tools and ideas to help us garden when we have issues bending, kneeling, lifting, or even moving around to garden. He is an expert in Universal Design principles and adaptive modifications for gardening. This class will share ideas and resources for you to try or share with others who want to keep on growing.
