Posted on 09/30/22 by The AARP Bulletin

Nine organizations in Montana have received AARP Community Challenge grants to improve livability and age-friendly designs.

Among the recipients of grants, totaling nearly $84,000:

  • Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes: $7,000 for a community garden and greenhouse.
  • Friends of the Thompson-Hickman Madison County Library: $8,500 to address disability access in historic Virginia City.
  • Pony Homecoming Club: $4,444 for an irrigation system in Pony Park, which is frequented by older adults.
  • Rotary Club of Helena: $5,000 for an outdoor mural in Helena’s historic 6th Ward.

A complete list of Montana grantees and projects is here. Tim Summers, AARP Montana state director, says the grants will “help already great communities across Montana become even better places for people of all ages to live and thrive.”
