2023 Springfield Election Voter Guide
Here's everything you need to know about Springfield Mayor election day!
When is election day?
Election Day for Springfield's 2023 Municipal Election is April 4th, 2023.
How can residents register to vote?
Registration is open year round except: During the 27-day period just prior to an election and during the 2-day period after each election.
Voter Registration in- person:
Voter registration is available in-person at the Sangamon County Election Office, located at 200 S. 9th Street, Room 105 of the County Building. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Parking is available in the County lot across the street from our building.
Do I need identification to vote?
Two forms of identification are required to register. One must show your name and current address. The second form must show your name.
These forms of identification shall include, but not limited to:
- Driver's License
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate
- Checkbook
- Utility Bill
- Bank Statement
- Student I.D. Card
- State I.D. Card
- Credit Card

How can I vote on election day?
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Find your polling place ON Election Day
Where Do I Vote?
Every registered voter in Sangamon County has one specific location (polling place) where they must go to cast their ballot on Election Day.
The name of your polling place is located on your Voter Identification Card. If you have misplaced your card, please call our office for a replacement at 753-6740, e-mail or alternatively, you may apply on-line for a replacement voter identification card.

What are the hours to vote?
Hours of all polling places are open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Any voter standing in line at 7:00 p.m. shall be allowed to vote. Accessibility to all polling places within Sangamon County are accessible.
What are deadlines for all types of voting?
Grace period allows for the registration of voters and for change of address during the period from the close of registration through election day. During this period, an unregistered elector may register to vote or submit a change of address ONLY in person in the Sangamon County Election Office or on Election Day at their polling place. After the registration process, the voter will then cast their ballot. Please note that once a voter casts a grace period ballot, the vote cast is final and may not be revoked and the voter is not eligible to cast a vote on Election
