2020 Faithful Aging Conference
The 2020 Faithful Aging Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 31, at the Bonsack United Methodist Church (4493 Bonsack Road NE, Roanoke, Virginia 24012). All persons from different faith backgrounds are invited to attend this event so that they can learn, network, and share best ministry practices.
Keynote speakers, such as Dr. Richard H. Gentzler, Jr. (Director of Encore Ministry of the Tennessee Conference of The United Methodist Church), Rev. Brad Hales (Pastor of Reformation Lutheran Church in Culpeper), and others will address opportunities related to ageing congregations. Additionally, they will discuss ways of meeting the needs of older adults, both inside and outside the walls of their faith communities.
Some of the different topics that the other speakers will tackle include communication strategies for persons living with dementia, how to avoid scams, helping others deal with loss and grief, outlooks on retirement, and much more! By the end of the event, all participants will receive a certificate for five contact hours (0.5 Continuing Education Unit has been approved by the Virginia Conference UMC Center for Clergy Excellence and Board of Ordained Ministry).
Individual registration will be $50 per person, while adults aged 65 or older will have a discounted rate at $40 per person. Similarly, groups of 3 or more will also be discounted at $35 per person.
