Community Grant Challenge 2017

AARP South Carolina awarded two Community Challenge grants to foster improvements in two communities.

In Anderson, the Anderson Arts Center will revitalize a public space with a neighborhood garden, educating locals about art and producing food for residents in need. The arts center offers exhibitions from regional and international artists, a summer arts camp and an arts school for children and adults, as well as professional development for local artists.

In Charleston, the American College of the Building Arts received a grant to install benches and a pergola. The project’s goal is to create a multigenerational gathering space. The projects must be completed by Nov. 4 and are designed to spur other community improvements.
