Join the Acton Conservation Trust (ACT) at sunset while listening and watching for the incredible woodcock flight. This walk will be led by local birder and President of the Boxborough Conservation Trust, Rita Grossman. She will introduce us to the fascinating courtship ritual. The male’s display is a series of peents, twitters, and chirps as he prances on the ground, then spirals rapidly upward, circles and drifts down.
Stoneymeade Conservation Land is a 45 acre parcel where you will find one of the two largest remaining open fields in Acton. Bring a flashlight for our 5 minute trail walk from meadow back to our cars. Please bring binoculars and come dressed for ticks and sprayed for mosquitos. Please RSVP to ACT President, Susan Mitchell-Hardt at info@ firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 978-369-9264.
