Please call before attending any community events to make sure they aren’t postponed or canceled as a result of the coronavirus. You can find CDC coronavirus information at cdc.gov/coronavirus; AARP has additional resources at aarp.org/coronavirus.
This hike was originally scheduled for December 24th, but was rescheduled due to dangerously low temperatures.
Wildfires aren't something that happens exclusively out west! In November 2022, Brown County State Park had its own 112 acre wildfire. Join the park naturalist for a hike to the burn area. We'll learn about wildfire ecology, wildland firefighting strategies, and the effect of this specific fire on the park! The hike is about three miles round trip and should be considered rugged due to the distance and several extended slopes. It will take us a little over two hours to complete. Due to the off trail nature of the hike, please do not bring pets. Meet at the Nature Center at 11am. We'll caravan to the hike location.
