Not all the birds have flown away for the winter. Join Stefan Martin, habitat steward, for a guided bird walk of Milford Point. Some birds remain here year-round, while some northern species are commonly seen only during the winter months. This includes a diverse group of waterfowl such as Red-breasted Mergansers, Common Goldeneye, Long-tailed Ducks, Common and Red-throated Loons. There’s a chance to see Horned Larks or Snow Buntings with the potential for a Lapland Longspur mixed in as well. Gull numbers should be building and we may possibly see some northern Gull species such as Glaucous or Iceland Gull.
Participants are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. The entire program is outdoors, we will be walking over uneven surfaces. We strongly recommend that you dress for cold temperatures: winter coats, hats, gloves, sturdy shoes/boots. Please bring binoculars, spotting scopes if you have them. We are not able to loan binoculars at this time.
This program may be postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather. We will contact you by email and/or phone.
Note: Center building and facilities (including restrooms) are closed, however, there is a portable toilet available (please bring hand sanitizer).
Group is limited to 8 participants.
Cost: Members $20, Non-members $25. Pre-registration required.
Once registered, participants will need to complete a waiver and return to Louise Crocco at email@example.com
