The Gaithersburg Chorus presents its virtual spring concert, at 7:30 p.m. The program will be livestreamed via Vimeo here.
The concert will feature performances of “It’s You I Like” by Fred Rogers (of television’s Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood), “April is in My Mistress’ Face” by Thomas Morley (first published in 1584), “The Dream Keeper,” with music by Rollo Dilworth and words by Langston Hughes (view this virtual performance starting May 7) , and “Loch Lomond” by Ralph Vaughn Williams. All performances will also be viewable on the Arts on the Green Facebook page.
The Gaithersburg Chorus is a non-audition ensemble class, open to those 16 years and older. At weekly rehearsals directed by Daniel Hopkins with Accompanist Refiye Tappan, participants enjoy instruction on music theory, musicality and the mechanics of singing, including vocalization, voice control, proper breathing technique, and voice projection. The Chorus performs a variety of music, from classical to pop to Broadway and everything in between. Students looking for volunteer opportunities can earn SSL hours for participating in the Chorus.
This program is funded in part by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC). To discover more about MSAC grants and how they impact Maryland's arts sector, visit www.msac.org.
