The Kenosha Public Museum has been fortunate to receive the generous assistance of artist and collector Ronald L. Ruble, who through acquisition and donation, has actively nurtured our print collection and helped it to grow in quality and scope. Ruble grew up in Kenosha and spent many happy hours at the old Kenosha Public Museum. When he moved away to pursue a successful career in business, he never forgot the KPM nor how it had kindled his passion for art. He reconnected with the KPM when we hosted a career retrospective of his art in 2007, and from that a friendship grew. Ruble was impressed with the KPM's "new digs" and by how far we all had come from our humble, shared beginnings. We were impressed with his efforts to gather, one-by-one, representative works by America's leading and lesser-known printmakers. A successful artist and printmaker himself, Ruble enjoys personal connections and insights to many other artists, and credits their generosity for making such an effort possible. Little did we know then what was to come of what he called his "collecting bug."When Ron Ruble reached out to us in 2010-2011 with the invitation to premiere a temporary exhibition of his print collection, we were thrilled. The Printmaking Revolution in America and the Wisconsin Presence, featuring 70 years of art by the country's leading printmakers, was timely and very well received, and has since gone on to other venues. By exhibiting the works of these artists and building an active, online presence (www.printrevolutioninamerica.com), Ruble hopes, as we do, to spread the acknowledgment of printmaking as a relevant force in contemporary art. He also shares the goal of drawing attention to the prominent role of Wisconsin artists and instructors in the rise and spread of this artistic movement. We are pleased to share some of these outstanding prints in this virtual gallery. *For more Artist information go to http://ronaldlrublecollection.com/home - just copy and paste this link into your browser.* *Join The Kenosha Public Museum Print Club* Members receive an unframed, signed, limited edition artist print from a nationally known printmaker commissioned by the Museum.
