Unstageable Theater Festival

Sunday, Jul 28, 2019 at 2:00pm

The Brick Theater
579 Metropolitan Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11211

The Brick is overjoyed to announce Unstageable! A theater festival for work that could not possibly be produced on the stage.

Schedule:
4.30 pm Antarabhava

Antarabhava is a play about an expectant grandmother who wants to baptize her grandchild-to-be in the Catholic Church. Her two daughters, perturbed by the Church's scandals and resistant to its maleness, are dead-set against it. Or: Antarabhava is an intermediate, transitional, or liminal state between death and rebirth. Or maybe: on the stage of a small theater, Antarabhava is the state between when an actor's life ends and a character's life is just beginning to form.

2pm Scum

We invite you to join us for Scum – a burlesque revue and experimental theater piece centered around two women: beauty queen Carolyn Sapp, who won Miss America in 1992, and radical feminist Valerie Solanas, who shot Andy Warhol in 1968. Revel in a night filled with dance, music, puppets, and breasts, and ask yourself: What makes the perfect woman? What kind of woman makes you want to sing?
